After a recent project that looked at the credibility and trustworthiness of news sources, the Trusting News project, Gabriele Boland analyses data for News Whip to find out how these trusted publishers are restoring the public’s trust in the media. By looking at the ‘most trusted’ sources in the project, there are a number of similarities between them that can be seen in their approach to what and how they publish. These include keeping headlines objective and unbiased, writing about a variety of topics (not just politics), not attempting to incite negative reactions among their readership, and not using click bait on their social media accounts.
