Facebook announced on Monday that it had bought a small AI startup that will be incorporated into the Facebook Messenger app. It’s called Ozlo, and the company was founded four years ago in Palo Alto, California.
The idea behind Ozlo is that it helps users answer “real world” questions, like what times movies play, or questions about restaurants they may want to try.
Facebook’s previous attempt at AI, known as M assistant, hasn’t taken off. That’s a problem, especially when competitors, such as Google Assistant, Apple’s Siri, or Amazon’s Alexa are capturing the public’s imagination. But the company is hopeful that Ozlo will help take the company into the future of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
