Facebook is solidifying its place in the VR industry with recent updates to its live video platform.
The company announced improvements to its Live 360 feature on July 25. The feature now supports 4K ultra-high definition live videos, which can be watched in virtual reality using an app for the Samsung Gear VR.
Facebook also announced new fundraiser and scheduling features, among other improvements. A donate button will allow verified non-profit organizations to raise money, and the scheduling feature gives publishers the ability to schedule upcoming broadcasts so Facebook users can receive reminds before a broadcast begins.
Facebook also launched its Live 360 Ready Program, which includes a list of recommended cameras and software for use with Facebook Live.
